The list keeps growing (even more changes)
One thing you learn very quickly about software development is that you add far more to lists than you tend to cross off, and generally at an ever increasing rate. Our list of fixes keeps growing, and as daunting as that can be at times, it’s also really exciting to see how we can continue to improve this experience for all of you.

I’m nosey–how about you?

I pull-up www.makefive.com first thing in the morning on my iPhone (and regularly throughout the day) just to catch-up on the dialogue that people are having. The Community Activity area on the homepage is where I tend to start my scanning, but I’m always frustrated when I hit the fifth page of items and reach a dead-end. Sometimes a lot has happened overnight, and I want to get a feel for all of it. As such, we’re adding the “More” link as you see above, that will lead you to several (long) pages of activity. (I’ll be able to snoop for hours, and so will you!)

We will have proper search results!

Go run a quick search on MakeFive. Really, you can do it for anything… Okay, so, now that you’ve completed your search, what do you think of that search results page? Yup–we’re with you; it’s a complete mess. As such, we’ve revised the whole thing, and have matched the look of items, topics, users, and comments to what you see throughout the site. We think this will finally give you a better search system. (Sorry for taking so long to fix this.)

Item #3
Chat with the MakeFive Community

Have you ever come across a member of the community whose opinions are much like yours? Did you perhaps think about asking them for other suggestions? Well, that will be made much easier soon, as we add chat functionality to the site. It’s a relatively stripped-down function, but we’re hoping that it will make the dialogue just a little more natural.

Item #4
&*@#! Internet Explorer

Do you see stuff like this every once-in-a-while? Ugh! It drives us crazy. The fact is that Internet Explorer is a bit of a nightmare for developers. We’re really working to solve little bugs like these, but in the meanwhile, a refresh of the page should fix it. Alternately, you might like to use Firefox, Chrome or Safari, as they all seem to have an easier time with this sort of thing.

Item #5
What’s going on?

It’s nice to be a part of a really engaging debate, and we feel that the best way to do make this happen is by featuring great content. As such, we’re removing that (largely unused) site tour from the main page, and replacing it with a list of the five topics that we think are interesting. We expect that this will help us shine a light on great topics–particularly some of the ones that have fallen between the cracks.

Well, I’m going to get back to it. As always, we’re having fun, and working hard so that you do too. Cheers!
