“Spammy! When did you arrive?”

Oh spam… why must you be here too?
…………………………………………………………………………………………

We’re not sure whether we should be angry, perplexed or flattered. Overnight, we had the first spammer abuse the MakeFive email system. MakeFive was a “spam virgin” until now, and we wish there would have at least been some foreplay to accompany our first time. (To be honest, the whole thing wasn’t as good as we had hoped.) Anyway… It wasn’t an automated attack, but rather it looks like they browsed through the directory and manually sent messages to individual users. (Industrious, weren’t they?)

That user’s account has been disabled, although I’m sure they had no intention of returning anyway. We’re testing out a spam filter that will be integrated into several key areas of the site, which should hopefully prevent things like this happening again. Sorry about the inconvenience; we’re really working to resolve these issues.
